Erganeo, IPEDIS® and the University of Paris join forces to prepare the market launch of a technology created by IPEDIS® to make PDF documents accessible to visually impaired people (253 million people worldwide are visually impaired).
The challenges of digital accessibility
Digital accessibility allows people with disabilities to access digital content.
To achieve this, IPEDIS® applies accessibility standards to digital interfaces, issued by the responsible authorities and designed by ergonomists for each type of disability.
IPEDIS® relies on a new technology that goes from manual processing of PDF files to automated document reading thanks to a unique artificial intelligence algorithm adapted to their needs.
All users, without discrimination, will then be able to perceive, understand, navigate, but also interact, create content and contribute to the digital universe.
In addition to its primary utility, i.e. making content available to the public without discrimination, digital accessibility offers many advantages, such as access to the senior market, enhancement of the citizen image, optimization of the website and reduction of maintenance costs, all of which are opportunities for companies, well beyond a legal obligation.
A decisive investment for the industrialization phase
Erganeo has put IPEDIS® in touch with the LIPADE laboratory which is part of the UFR Mathematics and Computer Science of the University of Paris in order to provide expertise in the development of the artificial intelligence algorithm necessary to automate the reading of pdf documents.
This partnership is the subject of a 12 to 18 month co-maturation program financed by Erganeo and the SME to secure this technology and to implement the developments necessary for the change of scale and the future global market launch.
The scientific expertise of Erganeo's territory thus enables an association combining research and industry through the SME IPEDIS® and thus guarantees a promising investment on a technology with a strong societal impact.
